The Eli Whitney Fire Department was founded in 1960 by residents concerned about better fire protection for their and surrounding communities.

 Our first Chief was Amick Lloyd, he served in that position from 1962 to 1972. In fact his Grandson, Mike Lloyd, has been a member for over 8 years and currently holds the rank of Captain. After Amick, Gordon Marlette held the position from 1972 to 1982. Taking over from there was Thomas Ray from 1982 to 1985. The following Chief was Thomas Santa serving 1985 to 1995.  Randy Thomas was elected by the Board of Directors upon Tom's retirement and leads us currently.

 Construction on our current station began in Oct. of 1962, with an addition which was added in Jun. of 1963. We broke ground on our new 11,000+ Sq Ft station in Apr. 2007, which is slated to be ready for occupancy in Nov. 2007. The new station features 4 double bays, 3 offices, 3 living quarters, a day room, kitchen,  large training room, along with other storage, utility,bathroom, and shower facilities.
